Polish state railways wants to rebuild or build new stations before the Euro 2010 football championship, which will take place in Poland. The major investment is worth up to 670 million zloty(170 million euro).
The first works will start in April of the current year, which will include all the main Polish cities: Wroclaw, Katowice, Warsaw, Poznan, Gdynia and Krakow. The works will moderate fifty stations.
Jacek Przesluga, who is a member of the Board of PKP SA, said that this is the largest undertaking in the history of Polish national rail.
The works will be financed by the European Union((236 million zloty), the state budget (353 million zloty)and PKP (102 million zloty).
